Metalwërks® New Sculpted®3D* Product Honored with Architectural Products Magazine’s Product Innovation Award

Metalwërks, family-owned product manufacturer and specialty contractor of architectural metal cladding and ornamental metals, was named recipient of the 2014 Product Innovation Awards (PIA) from Architectural Products magazine. Metalwërks’ Sculpted wall system was recognized in the building envelope category.

“We are thrilled to be acknowledged for such a prestigious award,” says Stephen Scharr, director of business development at Metalwërks. “One of the benefits that make this product truly unique is that it can act as a canvas for the design professional’s creative skills with its many different materials, colors and textures.”

The Sculpted wall system is a three dimensional, custom designed architectural wall cladding system that is incorporated into the overall design of a building’s function. It allows the designer freedom to create a signature design that also performs functional tasks such as lighting features, greening a wall surface through perforated screening and irrigated planter boxes or to create an iconic symbol of the surrounding community. Sculpted façade aluminum materials are created using a high percentage of recycled content—post-industrial and post‐consumer—and can be 100% reclaimed and recycled.

Metalwërks’ first application of Sculpted was featured on the “100 Rock” building at Rutgers Business School’s Livingston Campus. It features a custom color scheme of alternating patterns formed from anodized aluminum sheet.

The Architectural Products Innovation Awards program determines and honors innovation in the development and refinement of buildings-related products, ranging from cladding systems to interior finishes. Judged by a group of 50 independent industry professionals that include architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran architectural, engineering and construction writers, winners in each of the program’s categories represent those products found to be the most innovative and worth investigating.

“Building on the success of last year’s program, our fourth edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” stated Jim Crockett, editorial director at Architectural Products magazine.

Additional variations of Metalwërks’ Sculpted wall system will be launching in early 2015.

Metalwërks’ Sculpted and other winners of the Product Innovation Awards are featured in the November print issue of Architectural Products and online at www.arch-products.com.
