Metalwerks has been awarded a second project contract with Morgan State University. Metalwerks will fabricate a variety of custom architectural metal pieces to complement the Business Management Complex Building currently under construction.
The new project, a pedestrian bridge, will serve as a cornerstone in the University’s master plan to link to the school’s western expansion with the existing campus. The 666 ft. span will be clad in Metalwërks Arcwall Plate PERS panels, and feature a graceful multicolor arching profile, an arched accent panel, and a curved glass handrail with colored glass panels.
The architectural scheme calls for six different Kynar finishes to complement the Business Complex building. Both the Business complex and the Bridge are expected to be completed in summer of 2015 for the 2015/12016 academic year.
Metalwerks collaborated with the project architects Ayers Saint Gross of Baltimore in association with Kohn Pedersen Fox of New York City for the design of the architectural metal systems used in the contract documents. The image above was supplied courtesy of ASG in association with KPF.
“We are ecstatic to be invited back for this second phase of construction, and look forward to seeing the completion of this vital link between campuses,” said Stephen Scharr, Director of Business Development at Metalwërks. “The bridge will not only look great, but will provide safe crossing for students, faculty and staff.”
